Business Ethics Quality Assurance
Question: Discuss about the Business Ethics for Quality Assurance. Answer: Introduction: Rachael works as a Quality Assurance Engineer in an electronics company. She is entrusted with the duty of examining the quality of the final products before they are delivered. However, since Rachael has only a short span of 6 months to conduct the quality testing for the products of another company, she prefers to skip her duty of examining the quality of few products. However, it is highly unethical as for staying in the competition, she is not thoroughly examining the quality of the products delivered by her organization, and in fact is breaching her duty (Lowery et al. 2013). Hence, this is highly an unethical act that is affecting the organizational reputation, threatening the shareholders and employees of the organization. Besides, this can also potentially harm the security and confidentiality of the data of the consumers. It is understood that the major constraint is the short span of time, assigned to her. However, since this is an unethical act, it is advisable that Rachael ships the damaged products, only after careful examination and thorough assessment (Adeyeye 2014). In case, she fails to find sufficient time for the same, she should either put the item on hold, or should seek help from an employee, working in the organization, under the same designation. Anne, working as an electrical engineer, felt herself deprived of her rights of promotion, when two new employees are being offered far more important roles in a new project. Although Anne strongly believes that she has gained sufficient skill, professional expertise as well as profound experience, required for the successful completion of the project and subsequent promotion, she was not being recognized by the management authority. This incident de-motivated Anne, as a result of which she denounced the organization, and discouraged her colleagues to continue working there. However, she should have tried to communicate the issue to her manager, instead of tarnishing the organizational reputation (Hatman et al. 2014). Since her manager is deemed to be stubborn, she can proceed with the problem to her HR manager, or the General Manager. Since de-motivating the company and its authority behind the back, would only serve to discourage the co-employees, creating a pessimistic, unproducti ve environment, Anne must consider communicating the issue to the manager (Carden and Boyd 2014). She can also consider the option of writing a letter to the management authority, explaining how this management decision, has affected her professional enthusiasm and productivity. In case her problem persists, she should resign. As it has been observed that Victoria had recently joined the job, thus there is less chance of developing a friendly relationship with any colleague. The intensions of Luke were clear that he did not want any kind of friendly relationship but was looking into some kind of benefits, sexual benefits can be said easily. This kind of attitude should not be tolerated or entertained by any employee at the workplace (Yang 2016.). Victoria should talk about the incident with Luke. If Luke admits his mistake and apologize for his behavior, Victoria should give him another chance. However, if Victoria finds something negative and fishy, should definitely go to the HR department and tell the incident clearly (Griffin et al. 2015). It falls under the responsibility of the HR department to understand the situation and make proper judgment. If someone has to lose something from the professional life, it has to be Luke fir the misbehavior and not Victoria. Moreover, in the ear of 21st century, wom en get enough support to present her point of view and fight for her own rights. Ethically, the product should not be sent because one last test was left and any kind of faulty product should not be sold. Since, the complete transportation system requires a money, time and arrangement the product could be sending easily (Yang 2016.). If case of any fault, customer service has to be given at right time. Records should not be destroyed because these are the evidences that can be required at any point of time. All the records should be kept intact either in soft or in hard copies. At least the important documents and the records should be kept without any failure (Gioia 2013). In case, if any of legal case occurs, there should be scope to come out clean by providing right evidences. In order to get the products checked, it is feasible to call an expert and let the expert decide about the quality and the type of products that have been used. In order to get ensure about the product, it is required to get a note of the quality and the service that the products shall offer. If the products did not match the required standard, strict action should have been taken (Darwall 2013). References: Adeyeye, O.J., 2014.
